If you are a self managing landlord then nothing is more irritating than tenants not turning up for a property viewing. After all, we are busy people and the last thing we need is a tenant who doesn’t turn up.
No doubt we have all been in the situation where we have arranged to meet a tenant at a certain time during the day, only to find that 15 minutes after the agreed time the tenant has still not arrived – how annoying!
To get around this problem I always say to tenants they must call or text me 30 minutes before the agreed meeting time to confirm that they are still arriving. If they do not call or text me then I do not turn up. I make it quite clear to the prospective tenant that if they do not confirm the appointment then I will assume that they won’t be turning up for the viewing and, therefore, I will not turn up either. If in the unlikely event that they give excuses to say that they may not be able to call or text, be quite firm with them and re-iterate that this needs to be done.
By asking the tenant you are also able to assess how interested they really are in your property.
